That time of year again

Well, it came quickly - where did the summer go? In North America, October 31st is Halloween and for the last month or so the local farmers have been cultivating pumpkins. Of course, it is still only the middle of October but parents and children have been out in the fields selecting the best looking pumpkin they can find. Then they carry it home in triumph ready to be emptied of its contents and then carved with two eyes and a mouth. With a candle placed inside, it is ready to take its place on the front step, the window or the garden, looking for all the world like the disembodied head of a not-very-nice-looking ghoul.
