Rock and Sand

There is something so peaceful about simple things. Here is a simple image - a rock and a number of surrounding concentric circles, like a fixed point in life and stillness and order around it. This is not a photograph of one of those small trays that are available, with a small rock in it and an equally small rake to form the circles, but this is a fairly large area in a Japanese Garden close to my home in Western Canada. We had gone there to photograph trees that were in their Fall colours (they were very impressive in their reds, golds and browns and a beauty to be seen) and there was this area just waiting to be photographed. The image has been cropped from the original in order to present a better composition.
