Just recently, we (my wife and I) were feeling the effects of too many external influences - like the economy, bad news, election campaigns, email, spam and what seemed like a lot of little irritating things. So we decided to forget it all and take a short trip locally for a couple of days. This was so relaxing with no television, no phone calls, no web surfing, no emails and time available for us to do whatever we liked for a day or so - and I would fully recommend it!
However, not all of us are able to actually leave our usual lifestyle, because so many of us have commitments to work, family, parents, children and so on that cannot be neglected. But if we can take a very short time perhaps, to forget all of our worries, to meditate or just to let our minds even wander a little, to enjoy a change of scenery if possible, maybe get some fresh air and exercise, it does us a world of good. It is so easy to get all bound up with the little things let alone those bigger ones, but as the saying goes "A Change is as good as a Rest". So, maybe try to make a small change, even if only for a few minutes, and give yourself a well deserved rest.
